Martin Odegaard has encouraged his Arsenal teammates to focus solely on winning their final day of the Premier League season clash with Everton.

For the Gunners to have any chance of securing their first Premier League title in 20 years, they must secure a victory against Sean Dyche's Toffees at the Emirates Stadium and hope that West Ham United can avoid defeat at Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta's men were hoping that rivals Tottenham could get the better of Pep Guardiola's side on Tuesday, but an Erling Haaland double delivered the Cityzens victory and ultimately a two-point lead at the top of the table ahead of the final day on Sunday.

Arsenal would undoubtedly have preferred for their fate to be in their own hands - particularly as City have won all seven of their final day of the season games under Guardiola's management - but Odegaard insists that belief must reign supreme among the players.

"We have to keep the focus on ourselves, keep the spirit high and keep believing," the Norwegian said (via The Standard). "We have to make sure we do our job. I think the task is clear now: if we win, and Manchester City don’t, then it’s all for us.

“The only thing we can do is focus on ourselves, win our game and then we will see where that takes us. Anything can happen in football, we’ve seen stranger things happen before so the main thing is to focus on our game and just look at it as another game we have to win.

“That’s all we can do, we can’t control anything else. It’s down to us to ensure we have a good end to the season, finish with a win at home and then we’ll see. There is just one game left, let’s go and win it.”

The Gunners secured a 1-0 victory over the Toffees when the two sides clashed in September, with the solitary goal scored by Leandro Trossard, while City triumphed 3-1 over West Ham in their reverse fixture - Jeremy Doku, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland the goalscorers after James Ward-Prowse had given the Hammers the lead.
