Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite has hit back at the naysayers by insisting that he will be at the club “for many years”.
Braithwaite joined the Catalan club on an emergency deal at the end of February, with much hand-wringing as to the morality of the move and a heap of laughter that a Middlesbrough reject could fall upwards so spectacularly.
But the Denmark international has hit back at said critics and has reiterated his desire to remain at Camp Nou for the foreseeable future following some impressive early performances for Quique Setién’s side.
“I’m here to be here for many years,” he told Sport.
“People have their opinions, I’ve only heard positive stuff but if that’s what people say they’re going to be surprised when I’m here next season playing in the Champions League.
“So it’s nice, it’s a goal I can write down to surprise people because I’m going to be here for many years.”
