Marseille’s target Alexis Sanchez proposed to Lille

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (35) having left for Saudi Arabia and Jonathan David (24) likely to take on a new challenge this summer, Olympique de Marseille and Lille OSC are both looking to strengthen their attack and could battle for Alexis Sanchez’s (35) signature.

Available on a free transfer following Inter Milan exit, Alexis Sanchez could return to Ligue 1, a championship he took by storm during the 2022-23 season with Marseille. The Chilean international, now 35, is looking for a new challenge after a disappointing season in Lombardy, where he logged four goals and delivered five assists in 32 games across all competitions. In talks with Marseille over a return to the south of France, Sanchez could also make a surprise move to the north, as Lille is also looking to strengthen their offensive unit.

According to L’Équipe, Alexis Sanchez has recently been proposed to Lille following his contract expiration at Inter Milan. With Jonathan David likely to leave the North this summer, Les Dogues are looking for a suitable replacement up front, and Alexis Sanchez’s sole season in Ligue 1 with Marseille was impressive, to say the least, netting 18 goals in 44 games across all competitions. However, the operation appears to be difficult to realise, as Lille would have to free one of their four spots reserved for players from a non-European country. As of now, those spots are filled by the Brazilian’s duo of Ismaily (34) and Alexsandro (24), Kosovo’s international Edon Zhegrova (25) and Jonathan David. Hence, Lille would have to finalise David’s transfer before being able to seal a deal with Sanchez.
