Marseille’s Swap Deal for Ounahi Rejected by Girona

Olympique Marseille've reportedly failed in their attempt to offload Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi in swap deal involving Girona’s Spanish left back Miguel Gutierrez.

Proposed Deal Falls Apart

According to Le10Sport, Marseille offered Ounahi to Girona in exchange for Gutierrez plus transfer fee. However the deal was quickly dismissed.

Gutierrez who joined Girona in 2022 and previously won Champions league with Real Madrid in 2021 /22 has attracted interest from multiple top clubs after shining in la Liga.

Another Rejection for Marseille

Despite Marseille’s urgent need to reinforce the left flank, Gutierrez turned down the French side and is now on the verge of joining Napoli in Serie A.

This marks another failed pursuit for Marseille who were also snubbed by Dutch winger Noa Lang despite earlier being favourites to sign him.

Ounahi’s Future Remains Unclear

As for Ounahi, the 24 year old remains in limbo. Under contract with Marseille until summer 2027, he's actively seeking fresh challenge to revive his form ahead of AFCON 2025 and the 2026 World cup.
