According to a report by L’Équipe and confirmed by RMC Sport, Olympique Lyonnais have reached an agreement on personal terms with Jordan Veretout (31). The midfielder is willing to join the club on a two-year deal that would see him accept a significant salary reduction.
However, there is still some way to go before Lyon finds an agreement with Olympique de Marseille for the midfielder. Lyon would like to pay €2 million for French international, however, Marseille are expecting closer to €8 million. Furthermore, Veretout would like Marseille to compensate him for the loss of earnings, which is something that the club are currently unwilling to do.
Despite the transfer window shutting in France at midnight on Friday, French clubs can still do business. Each club is allowed one ‘joker’ transfer, where they are allowed to buy a player from another French team. Lyon would be required to use their one ‘joker’ transfer on Veretout to complete this deal.
