According to La Provence, Jonathan Clauss (31) could be set for a one-month absence. It is a big blow for Olympique de Marseille, who are in the midst of an injury crisis with some big fixtures coming up.

Clauss suffered a hamstring tear during France’s 3-2 victory over Chile at the Vélodrome on Tuesday. The former RC Lens full-back was forced off in the 11th minute. He then underwent further tests on Wednesday, according to La Provence. Those tests have been able to determine a period of absence, which is estimated to be between three and four weeks.

Marseille with two fit defenders to face PSG

The France international will miss some big fixtures. Notably, he will miss Sunday’s Le Classique against Paris Saint-Germain, as well as the two-legged UEFA Europa League encounter against Benfica. His absence adds to a crisis at OM. Bamo Meïte, Amir Murillo, Ulisses Garcia and Samuel Gigot are all injured, whilst Leonardo Balerdi is not at full fitness either, leaving Les Phocéens with just two fully-fit defenders to face PSG.
