According to a report by Foot Mercato, Olympique de Marseille have resumed their discussions with RC Lens over a move for Elye Wahi (21). The French outlet writes that the two clubs’ positions have never been closer and that one way or another this transfer should soon be resolved.
With less than a week remaining before the start of the new campaign, Marseille cannot afford to rest on their laurels and will have to move quickly to fill the void left by the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (35).
Their pursuit of a replacement for the Gabonese international has been far from straightforward with the club meeting significant stumbling blocks as they tried to secure one of Wahi, Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah (25), and Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko (19).
Marseille reportedly have agreed terms with each player but they have struggled to forge agreements with their respective clubs. However, the fast-approaching opening match against Stade Brestois on Saturday could well pressure the club into action.
