The Phocaean club hasn't had its final say in the Algerian's case yet.
Ismaël Bennacer / AC Milan
Ismaël Bennacer is once again being linked to Olympique de Marseille. Reports indicate that the Olympians have renewed their efforts in recent days to bring back the Algerian international midfielder following his loan spell last season—a return that the player himself is also hoping for.
With his situation at AC Milan still unclear, Ismaël Bennacer remains a concrete target for OM. While the Italian club is not interested in another loan and is instead demanding a permanent transfer set at 12 million euros, the Algerian international is pushing his management to return to the Mediterranean coast.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported this Monday, August 18, that negotiations have resumed between the two clubs. OM is requesting another loan deal from Milan, this time with a purchase option, and is also asking the Italian side to cover part of the midfielder's wages. On his end, the Algerian international is reportedly willing to make salary concessions after turning down a move to Saudi Arabia.
The 27-year-old also wants to be in peak condition ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco from December 20 to January 18, 2025. This transfer saga may just be getting started. But Olympique de Marseille seems determined to make another bold attempt to lure one of the most talented midfielders of his generation.
