According to Fabrice Hawkins, Olympique de Marseille have reached an agreement with Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles for the goalkeeper Jeffrey de Lange (26). The goalkeeper is reportedly arriving in Marseille later today where it is expected he’ll sign a three-year contract.
Hawkins writes that the two clubs have agreed to a €2 million transfer fee for the former Ajax academy product. De Lange is expected to join the squad as the main competition for the club’s priority target Gerónimo Rulli (32). The transfer between Ajax and Marseille has yet to be agreed upon for Rulli. However, reports yesterday indicated that an agreement was close to being reached.
Pau López (29) the former Marseille number one for the last three seasons has long been rumoured with a departure from the south of France, but the arrival of De Lange puts fresh doubt on Rubén Blanco’s (29) role in the squad. Blanco who has started all the club’s pre-season friendlies was always likely to drop down the pecking order, but now it appears as if he will have serious competition for the role of understudy.
