Marseille are not ready to make an offer as high as €30 million for Inter Milan attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni.

Marseille are pushing to sign Inter attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni.

The Ligue 1 club have emerged as the main suitors for the 19-year-old during the summer transfer window.

There is also interest in Carboni’s signature from within Serie A, according to reports. All of Fiorentina, Atalanta, and Lazio have been linked with the teenage attacking midfielder.

But it is Marseille who have been actively negotiating with Inter to try and sign Carboni.

Reportedly, new Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi sees the Argentine as a key target.

The former Benevento, Sassuolo, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Brighton and Hove Albion coach is aiming to shape Marseille to his style of football. And he sees Carboni as an ideal target for this.

The key factor is likely to be whether or not Marseille go high enough in their offer.

Inter are reportedly open to the possibility of selling Carboni. But it would have to be for a very high fee.

The Nerazzurri are certainly going to look to find a new club for Carboni.

The Argentine spent last season on loan with Monza. And he could very well be loaned out to a different club for next season.

But if Inter were to sell Carboni on a permanent basis then Inter would aim high as far as their asking price.

The Nerazzurri have already rejected a €25 million offer from Fiorentina for Carboni in January.

€30 million has been widely reported as the minimum bid that Inter would consider. And they may even want more – closer to €40 million.

However, a report earlier today indicated that Marseille have tabled an offer in that region.

According to RMC Sport, however, that is not quite the case.

The French club have made an offer for Carboni, they report. But they have not gone as high as €30 million at this stage.

In the meantime, Carboni has just finished up with the Copa America. He was part of the Argentina squad that won the tournament.

Carboni will spend the next few weeks on vacation following that tournament. Then, he’ll be back at Inter in August, where his future should be decided.
