Marseille join the race to sign Newcastle’s Lloyd Kelly | OneFootball

Olympique de Marseille are one of several European clubs in the race to sign Newcastle United defender Lloyd Kelly (26), according to a report from L’Équipe.

Marseille, despite the arrival of Luiz Felipe on a free transfer earlier in the transfer window, are still looking to bring in further defensive reinforcements before the closure of the transfer window next week. L’Équipe understands that they are now one of several clubs interested in signing English defender Kelly, who is struggling for game time at Newcastle. He has made just nine Premier League appearances and just 13 in all competitions.

However, the competition for his signature is fierce. Les Phocéens have a concrete interest in Kelly, as do Borussia Dortmund and Juventus. Under contract with the Magpies until 2029, Kelly could leave the Premier League side on a loan deal before the closure of the transfer window.

Lilian Brassier, who has failed to impress since his summer move from Stade Brestois, is still expected to leave OM.
