Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille are in talks with Manchester United and Mason Greenwood (22) for the signing of the English centre-forward, according to a report from The Athletic. The outlet understand that Les Phocéens are keen to recruit Mason Greenwood and the latter would favor the opportunity to discover a new league under the tutelage of Roberto De Zerbi, who landed in Marseille yesterday to sign a three-year contract.

Mason Greenwood was transfer-listed by Manchester United last summer after the Premier League club abandoned all plans to bring him into Erik ten Hag’s senior squad after a court of law discontinued a case against him for attempted rape, assault, and coercive control. Mason Greenwood’s trial did not take place because key witnesses withdrew their cooperation. The player has denied the allegations made against him.

Mason Greenwood was consequently loaned to La Liga minnows Getafe, where he scored 10 goals in 36 appearances for the Madrid-based outfit. Marseille are in the market for a striker considering an aging Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang essentially carried the goal-scoring burden last season, logging an impressive 30 goal tally. Les Phocéens are also set to sell Iliman N’Diaye to Everton and have previously confirmed Vitinha’s departure to Genoa.
