Former Olympique de Marseille president Christophe Bouchet has come out in support of Pablo Longoria following the Spaniard’s stinging criticism of internal leaks at the club. In a candid interview with RMC Sport, Bouchet admitted that Marseille has historically struggled with information control, calling the club “a sieve”.

Longoria surprised many during his end-of-season press conference attended by Get French Football News, by openly calling out what he sees as a toxic culture of leaks and internal interference. While his tone may have shocked some, Bouchet—who served as OM president between 2002 and 2004—believes Longoria’s concerns are both valid and long-standing.

“There were already too many leaks when I was in charge,” said Bouchet. “There’s always been far more information leaking out of OM than any other club.”

The former president believes this issue isn’t just about careless whispers, but structural:“It’s probably the result of one or two people who leak things, but the reality is that the club has always been a passoire—too porous,” he insisted. “It happens far more than in other clubs.”

Bouchet suggests that the size and structure of Marseille itself makes secrecy a challenge. “People are much more interested in OM than in most other clubs. And at Marseille, there are so many layers of people involved—former staff, old friends, well-connected visitors.

“Each time a new president arrives, they’d do well to change the entire executive staff if they want peace.”GFFN | George Boxall
