Marseille duo Ismaël Bennacer & Amine Gouiri called up for Algeria

Algeria national team coach Vladimir Petkovic announced on Friday a 26-man squad for Fennec Foxes’ upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Botswana and Mozambique. The squad list includes Marseille duo Amine Gouiri and Ismaël Bennacer, among five players from Ligue 1 and two from Ligue 2, with a notable return for Youcef Belaïli. February Ligue 1 player of the month Amine Gouiri has been called up with OM teammate Ismaël Bennacer. Lille defender Aïssa Mandi has also made the cit, alongside Nice’s Hicham Boudaoui, and Angers’s Himad Abdelli. The 25-year-old SCO striker has made 24 appearances in Ligue 1 this season and scored six goals.One of the most unexpected inclusions was for Youcef Belaïli (33), now playing for ES Tunis. The former Brest winger has not featured for the national team since January 2024, but Petkovic has opted to bring him back into the fold for these crucial qualifiers.GFFN | George Boxall
