Matt O’Riley (24) moved from Celtic to Brighton and Hove Albion in a transfer worth almost €30m last summer, however, in his first season with the Seagulls, he featured sporadically. He could now be on the move, according to a report from L’Équipe.
O’Riley played 23 games for Brighton last season, scoring twice and registering three assists. Whilst he has yet to fully carve out a space for himself at the Premier League side, he has attracted the interest of Olympique de Marseille, as per L’Équipe. Whilst OM have already signed Angel Gomes on a free transfer, the club are looking to add another element to their midfield.
Ismaël Bennacer could yet join from AC Milan, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Marseille, however, Marseille are also considering O’Riley. L’Équipe understands that Marseille would look for a loan deal. The midfielder has already discussed a potential move to the Vélodrome with compatriot Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, L’Équipe understands.
