Marseille complete signing of Everton's Neal Maupay | OneFootball

Marseille have completed the loan signing of Everton striker Neal Maupay in a deal that includes an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old had been subject of loan interest from the French club earlier in the summer, but the Toffees insisted on a permanent deal for a player in the final year of his contract, with a compromise eventually being reached.

Sean Dyche’s side will pocket an initial €6m (£5m) with a sell-on also included. The total package of the transfer is €10m (£8.4m).

Signed in the summer of 2022 from Brighton, Maupay struggled in his time at Goodison Park, scoring just once in 32 appearances. He enjoyed a more successful loan spell at former club Brentford last season, netting six times in 29 games.

He has now returned to his homeland to link up with Roberto De Zerbi’s new-look side, who have had a promising start to the season.
