‘Mark an era’ – Xavi singles one Barcelona star out for special praise after Cádiz | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Xavi has tonight moved to lavish deserved praise on a member of his defensive ranks.

The player in question? Pau Cubarsí.

Stopper Cubarsí, for his part, is fresh off his latest outing in Barcelona colours.

Afforded a starting berth in the club’s La Liga meeting with Cádiz, the Spanish international, once again, went on to dazzle.

Absolutely outstanding in and out of possession alike, Cubarsí was in with a strong shout of Man of the Match honours, as seems to prove the case on a near weekly basis.

This comes just days on from the defender starting on the continent against Paris Saint-Germain, with Cubarsí expected to be in from the off once more on Tuesday night, for the return leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie.

Speaking to the media post-match on Saturday night, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the ongoing excellence being displayed by a player of such tender years was put to the aforementioned Xavi.

And, in his response, Barcelona’s headmaster tipped Cubarsí to go on to ‘mark an era’ at the Camp Nou:

“Pau Cubarsí is going to mark an era at the club. He is fundamental for us. He doesn’t play like he is 17 years old.”
