An insight into the finer details of the contract offer being readied by the brass at La Liga giants Barcelona for defensive standout Pau Cubarsí has today been forthcoming online.

Youngster Cubarsí has of course exploded onto the scene in Catalunya across the year to date.

After first being afforded a chance to impress by boss Xavi amid a personnel crisis at the heart of Barcelona’s backline, La Masia’s latest sensation has since gone on to establish himself as a near-undisputed first-team starter.

Though he has to date managed just 18 appearances in senior football, Cubarsí, in turn, has already been tipped as a potentially generational defender in the making.

It should therefore come as little surprise to hear of plans already being put in place in Barcelona to tie the Spaniard down for the long-term.

It is common knowledge that Cubarsí’s representatives have been locked in negotiations with the Blaugrana board for some time now, over the terms of a new contract.

As much would come into effect in January of next year, upon the stopper turning 18.

And, as alluded to above, on Friday, the financial details of the terms set to be on offer have been revealed.

The info comes courtesy of Diario AS, and confirms that the terms of Cubarsí’s renewal would run through the summer of 2029.

His salary would start out at a modest €4 million-per-season, rising on a year-to-year basis until reaching €12 million for the 2028/29 campaign.

A new release clause is also being drawn up, expected to come in at one of two figures – either €500 million, or €1 billion.
