Given that it is opening weekend, we will grant Marcus Rashford the benefit of the doubt.
He may not be 100% sharp yet and is still finding his way into seasonal form but even that isn’t much of an excuse for his miss against Brighton on Sunday.
With Manchester United trailing 2-0, he was picked out by a perfect delivery from Cristiano Ronaldo on the right, unmarked in the centre of the area.
But from that position, he somehow fired straight at goalkeeper Robert Sánchez and blew a huge opportunity to get his side back in the game.
Although the offside flag was then raised against Ronaldo, that proved to be an incorrect call based on replays.
Had Rashford netted, the goal would have counted. A huge miss.
