Aston Villa are leading the race to sign PSG striker Marco Asensio (29) on loan, according to L’Equipe and Foot Mercato. To ratify the Spaniard’s loan to the Villains, Les Parisiens first need to recall one of their loanees or terminate one of their loanees’ move. PSG have now maxed out their quota of senior players they sent on loan with Randal Kolo Muani (Juventus), Carlos Soler (West Ham), Nordi Mukiele (Bayer Leverkusen), Renato Sanches (Benfica), Milan Skriniar (Fenerbahce) and Cher Ndour (Besiktas).
L’Equipe understands that Ndour is on his way to leave the Istanbul-based outfit to join Serie A side Fiorentina on a permanent basis. La Viola were reportedly competing with Torino and Genoa to acquire the Italy youth international. Foot Mercato adds that PSG and Fiorentina have reached an agreement in principle over a €12m transfer fee for Ndour, who has already greenlit a move to Tuscany. Ndour would arrive in Florence on Sunday to put pen to paper over a four-and-a-half-year deal with Fiorentina.
With Ndour on his way out, PSG would now be in a position to allow Asensio to move on loan. Aston Villa manager Unai Emery was in the market for attacking reinforcements upfront as Villa parted ways with Jhon Duran and Emiliano Buendia. Asensio joined PSG eighteen months ago when his Real Madrid contract expired. His playing time has greatly decreased this season. The Spaniard logged two goals and four assists in 16 appearances.
