Marcelo Michel Leaño and Chivas will undoubtedly use a 4-3-3 on Saturday when they face Puebla in a winner-take-all that will see the winner head to the Liguilla quarter-finals.
In an interview with former footballer Marc Crosas, Leaño spoke about the 4-3-3 scheme he wants his Chivas side to get used to.
The intention is to give the midfielders much more purpose, especially Jesús Molina, the captain whom he has put a lot of trust in.
“Molina is a player who, in addition to his great defensive balance, has a lot of goals in him.
“He helps us to be able to distribute the ball better and to be able to connect with teammates. He helps us get between the centre-backs, he helps us here (in midfield), and he can go on the attack.
“The 4-3-3 allows you to find many triangles and in this way, carry the ball and move forward to have a free man. We defend in wide spaces and attack in short spaces.
“If you managed to achieve important passes, the team will be in a good position.”
Despite their miserable start, Chivas have some momentum heading into Saturday as they managed to pull off four results from their last five games of the season (eight points).
