Marcelo Gallardo offered to Marseille as Igor Tudor replacement | OneFootball

As was the case last summer, the Marseille upper management will enter the summer transfer window needing, first and foremost, to find a new manager, following the departure of Igor Tudor after a solitary season in charge.

L’Équipe indicate that club president Pablo Longoria wants to bring in a coach that would be able to maintian the all-action, dynamic style of play instilled by the Croatian, as characterised by the players that were brought over the past year. Captain Valentin Rongier had pointed out yesterday that Tudor had brought in a level of “rigour and seriousness” that the players had not been accustomed to.

With Longoria and sporting director Javier Ribalta keeping a keen eye on Serie A, several managers on the other side of the Alps would fit that particularly physical style of play, namely Atalanta’s Gian Piero Gasperini or Ivan Jurić of Atalanta. Neither one is a realistic option, though, according to L’Équipe.

Former River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo, who has been linked with the soon-to-be-vacant Paris Saint-Germain job as well, has been offered to Marseille. Foot Mercato had reported yesterday that the Argentine was at the top of Marseille’s shortlist. Spanish coach Marcelino, who has worked with Longoria at Valencia, has also been mentioned as a potential successor to Tudor, but is ostensibly not in the upper end of the shortlist. The Marseille directors are also keeping an eye on Monza’s Raffaele Palladino – who nevertheless is set to renew his contract-  and Vincenzo Italiano, who has taken Fiorentina to the Conference League final. L’Équipe also point out that going for a French manager is also an option.
