As reported by the local press in recent hours, Fecafoot has responded to the Marc Brys resignation case that shook headlines this Wednesday. In a letter addressed to the Minister of Sports and Physical Education—of which a copy has surfaced online—Samuel Eto'o shed light on the situation. The Federation president denounces allegations of "manipulation", questions claims of Marc Brys's messaging being hacked, and aims to clarify the salary arrears owed to the coach in question.

On the issue of "manipulation", Samuel Eto'o reminds everyone that the federation he leads was not involved in negotiating the contract between the state and Marc Brys. Fecafoot was also unaware of the contract’s details, particularly the payment terms for the coach's salary. Therefore, it "could not orchestrate any manipulation by speculating on their irregularity". Regarding the salary debt, the Fecafoot president points out, based on the minister's statement, that as of July 18, the salary arrears were still an issue according to Minsep. However, the resignation letter is dated July 21, casting doubt on the minister’s account. As for the alleged hacking of Marc Brys’s messaging, Fecafoot states it received a physical letter.

To clarify everything, Fecafoot retraced the origins of the saga. It all began on July 22, when Fecafoot received from Marc Brys a registered letter via a globally recognized courier service. The letter included a unilateral contract termination notice; seven photocopied pages of the contract signed on April 8, 2024; and a copy of confidential correspondence from the Minister of Sports to the Minister of Finance dated May 15, 2024, requesting support for the new technical staff.

The Federation discovered the terms of the contract binding the state of Cameroon to coach Marc Brys. Article 7, paragraph 4, provides for the payment of the residual value of the contract as compensation to the coach if he unilaterally terminates the contract for a valid reason (such as non-payment of salary and bonuses for more than 60 days). Marc Brys invoked this clause after confirming he had gone unpaid for over the 60 days agreed upon with Minsep.

In conclusion, Samuel Eto’o asserts that "Marc Brys has indeed knowingly and deliberately terminated his contractual relationship with Cameroon, with immediate effect".
