Italy manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed that Sandro Tonali is likely to be sent back to Milanello due to being in bad condition.

Roberto Mancini’s comments about Tonali arriving to training camp with a ‘problem’ caused alarm on Monday, given that left-back Theo Hernandez has sustained an adductor problem and will therefore miss the two matches that France will play while Davide Calabria will also require rest over the break.

Mixed reports then emerged regarding the possibility of Tonali playing against England on Friday night with Sky reporting yesterday that he was likely to start, but more worrying news came through this morning about his condition.

Speaking at the press conference on the eve of Italy-England, Mancini spoke about situation relating to Tonali who was absent from today’s final training session before the game, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“Tonali never trained with us, we tried to get him back for Budapest but he is not doing well and I think we will send him back home,” he said.
