New boss’ options bolstered as stars return from injury
Ruben Amorim names a strong side for Manchester United’s clash with Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League tonight.
The Norwegian side travel to Old Trafford tonight in the Europa League, a competition in which United, who sit 15th in the table, still have work to do if they are to seal their place in the knockout stages.
Amorim began life in the United dugout with a draw away at Ipswich on Sunday and in his first European match at the club he is likely to give minutes to players on their way back from injury.
Luke Shaw and Mason Mount have both endured frustrating campaigns to date, but came off the bench at Portman Road and could come into the side from the start here.
Jonny Evans drops out of the back three, while Mount could play in a deeper role alongside Manuel Ugarte, bringing more legs to the midfield after Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were favoured over the weekend.
Starting Man United XI (3-4-2-1): Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez; Antony, Ugarte, Fernandes; Malacia; Mount, Garnacho, Hojlund
Subs: Bayindir, Heaton, Dalot, Shaw, Casemiro, Eriksen, Mainoo, Amad, Rashford, Zirkzee
Time and date: 8pm GMT on Thursday November 28 2024
Venue: Old Trafford
