Last summer, PSG decided to sell Manuel Ugarte to Manchester United. Moreover, the Parisians opted to bring in a different midfielder who suits manager Luis Enrique and his system in João Neves.

Last summer, PSG reportedly paid a base fee of €60 million for Neves, with another €10 million possible in add-ons. That puts the total value of the deal at up to €70 million.

Moreover, the capital club sold Ugarte to the Red Devils in a deal worth an initial €50 million with another €10 million in potential add-ons. After one year, though, one former states that the Uruguayan should be one and done at Old Trafford.

Could a former PSG midfielder be done at Manchester United?

Writing for The Daily Mail, former Premier League striker Chris Sutton took a no-nonsense approach to assessing Manchester United’s squad in a game of “keep or sell.” He suggested the club should move on from 12 players.

Those on Sutton’s chopping block include Victor Lindelof, Matthijs de Ligt, Jonny Evans, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Several are expected to leave regardless, with Lindelof, Evans, and Eriksen all out of contract at the end of the season and not in line for new deals. But the most eye-catching names on the list are the three players United spent a combined £127.8 million on last summer—now already being deemed expendable.

“Not impressed by [Ugarte], not for a fee that could hit £50.8m,” Sutton wrote. “Could United recoup close to that? Well, that’s not my problem! Get rid.”
