Speaking to TyC Sports (h/t Tribal Football), Jorge Bermudez, who is a member of Boca Juniors’ Council, stated that the Argentinian club are keen on signing Manchester United ace Edinson Cavani.
The 34-year-old made the move to Old Trafford last summer on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain. Although it did take a little time for the Uruguayan to settle into the squad, he eventually started to score goals for the Red Devils and lead the frontline brilliantly.
However, earlier this year in March, Cavani’s father, Luis, claimed that his son was not happy and wanted to seal a return to Argentinian side Boca Juniors, which are also part of the player’s home continent.

While that was the case, the former Napoli striker went on to become an integral part of United towards the end of the season as he led them to the UEFA Europa League final. In early May, the club also convinced the striker to sign an extension on his current deal at the club.
But things have now changed drastically at Old Trafford. Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo have been added to the fold, and game-time could be an issue this season.
And now Boca Juniors have stated that they would want to sign the player in the future. Jorge Bermudez, who is a member of the Argentinian club’s council told TyC Sports (h/t Tribal Football):
“There was a great dream at the time, but we deeply respect him (Cavani). There is the Bombonera, people come, and Boca is waiting for him. Hopefully one day Boca can have that taste.”

With the 34-year-old’s contract set to expire next summer, only time will tell where the striker’s destination lies beyond this season.
