Casemiro answers questions in a pre-match press conference.
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro thinks it is “disrespectful” to talk about Carlo Ancelotti as a potential new Brazil boss while he is still at Real Madrid.
Brazil have been without a manager since Tite left back in December with Fernando Diniz taking over from Ramon Menezes as caretaker boss in July.
The Brazilian FA are still looking for the right manager to take the national team forward with rumours Real Madrid boss Ancelotti is their top target.
There have been a number of reports suggesting that talks have already taken place with Ancelotti – who used to manage Casemiro at Real Madrid – but the Italian has insisted he will see out his contract at the Bernabeu, which expires at the end of this season.
When asked about rumours linking Ancelotti to the vacant Brazil job, Casemiro told reporters in a pre-match press conference: “Ancelotti is a great coach, but he has a contract with Real Madrid, and it is disrespectful to talk about Ancelotti within the national team,” Casemiro
“Diniz has a way of playing, but the base and concept of football is joy on the pitch. Movement is one of Diniz’s characteristics, he already made it clear, and the great virtue of great players is to adapt to the coach, to the team, and if that’s what it’s for on the field I’m available.
“After so long, coming back here is really great. The people running behind the bus when we came to train, the people in front of the hotel. It is people like these who inspire us to be in the national team.”
The Man Utd midfielder also didn’t forget to mention previous manager Tite, he added: “Unfortunately in football when you win it is the best, when you lose it is the worst. Tite took the team without being in the qualifying zone and placed it in the 2018 World Cup. We won a Copa América, we reached the final of another, he revived Brazil’s hope of winning a World Cup.”
Casemiro has come under fire over his performances in the Red Devils’ opening four Premier League matches of the season with the Brazil international dribbled past (12) more than any other player in the English top flight this season.
Jamie Carragher and former Man Utd defender Gary Neville have both revealed their concerns over the Red Devils’ midfield this season and Casemiro in particular.
“I have a feeling at some stage, Casemiro is going to get really exposed,” Carragher predicted on Sky Sports after the Red Devils’ first Premier League match of the season.
Neville added: “Manchester United’s midfield was non-existent, it emptied. It was a concern. If you watched Man Utd in pre-season, leaving Casemiro on his own when Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes go forward, it looks great. But you’ve got to have a balance. And the front three don’t really work hard enough in a defensive sense.
“That would have been a real worry because Wolves have got a new manager only four days ago and a lot of misery around how their season may end up, but they’ve been brilliant tonight.”
