Manchester United have made contact with Brentford to discuss a deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo.

Ruben Amorim is keen to reinforce his side’s firepower after a tough Premier League campaign. United ended the season 15th, their lowest league finish since 1974. Attention has now turned to transfers as the club look to rebuild ahead of next season.

The Red Devils have already reached an agreement with Wolves to sign Matheus Cunha in a £62.5m deal and have now initiated talks for Mbeumo.

United are keen to sign Premier League proven talent and Mbeumo is a top target. The Cameroon international produced the best season of his career in 2024/25, scoring 20 goals in the Premier League and creating seven more. Only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland outscored the right-winger in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his Brentford contract and United are hopeful of striking a deal. Newcastle United have also been named as suitors this summer.

Brentford value Mbeumo at around £50m despite his contract situation. Earlier in the campaign, manager Thomas Frank admitted the Bees will sell if the right offer comes in.

“I can definitely understand the interest in him,” Frank said.

“There should be interest in him. He is at his best age, he has scored 20 goals.

“I would like to keep him, but we are a selling club so if someone comes in with the right price.”
