Manchester United icon Paul Ince has found himself in trouble with the law following one afternoon of shadowy behaviour.

Following Man United’s brief tour to Asia in May, life at Old Trafford has been quiet, with fans waiting for the team to get back to business when their tour of the US kicks off.

Although there has been some movement in the transfer market, with the club signing forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, further signings are yet to be secured, with the likes of Bryan Mbeumo expected to arrive at Old Trafford in the days that follow.

While current United players also seem to be on the quiet side, with many no doubt enjoying their summer break, one former player has gotten himself into quite a bit of trouble.

“Former Manchester United and England midfielder Paul Ince has been charged with drink-driving,” The Athletic reported.

“The 57-year-old was arrested after a Range Rover crashed into a central reservation in Cheshire, northwest England, on Saturday,” the article continued, adding that he will appear before the magistrates on Friday after he made bail.

“At around 5 pm on Saturday, 28 June, police were called following reports of a collision on Chester High Road, Neston,” the Cheshire Police explained in an official statement.

“The incident involved a black Range Rover, which had collided with the central reservation barrier. Officers attended the scene and arrested a 57-year-old man. Paul Ince, of Neston, has since been charged with drink driving. Ince has been bailed to appear at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 18 July.”

This is certainly not the kind of controversy that Ince would likely want surrounding his name.

While he hasn’t been a manager since leaving Reading in 2023, Ince has not been entirely out of the limelight in recent days.

The United legend has certainly been a keen follower of his former club.

In fact, Ince has had quite a lot to say about how things were going last season, critiquing the current squad and recommending that the club sign Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.
