Manchester United are planning a major squad clean-out this summer. According to Mail Sport, the Red Devils will listen to offers for up to 13 players this summer as they look to raise money for new signings. Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek is one of the players that could depart Old Trafford this summer. The club hopes to make around £20m from the sale of the 26-year-old, which is £19m less than what they paid for him in 2020 when Van de Beek transferred from Ajax.
Donny van de Beek failed to meet expectations at Manchester United. In his three years at Old Trafford, he’s featured just 60 times, scoring twice and providing two assists within those games. Even since the arrival of Erik ten Hag, who managed the midfielder for three seasons at Ajax, Van de Beek has featured just 10 times. Now it appears that they want to offload the 19-time Netherlands international.
Van de Beek played a total of 294 minutes of football last season. That was partly due to a serious knee injury that he suffered at the beginning of the year. Even during his short loan spell at Everton last year, the midfielder still struggled to shine. A move away from the Premier League could benefit Donny Van de Beek. Last week he was linked with a loan move to AS Roma, although rumours appear to have died down. Van de Beek’s current contract is valid until 2025.
