Declan Rice slapped with £50m price tag as Manchester United and Chelsea are linked

A report by 90min (h/t Manchester Evening News) states that Manchester United transfer target Declan Rice could be available for as less as £50million in the summer as Chelsea are linked with him as well.

United continue to be linked with the West Ham United midfielder. However, they are not the only team after the English defensive midfielder.

Chelsea have been linked with Rice for a while now and are still favourites to sign him. And now at a cut-rate price, competition for him might heat up in the coming months, (h/t Manchester Evening News)

Rice is a regular fixture in the Hammers starting XI. In fact, he has played every single minute of Premier League football for them this season. He is also a big reason behind West Ham United doing well in the league.

Declan Rice would be a good fit

Managed by ex-United boss David Moyes, West Ham are 7th in the Premier League table, just 2 points outside the top 4. A player like Rice could further strengthen United.

While there is no indication of a move in January, him potentially joining in the summer would be a great addition to the side. United already have a stacked midfield.

Apart from that, Rice can also play as a centre-back. It is this versatility of his which makes him an even more lucrative signing. It would be like strengthening two positions with one signing.

Just last month did Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola drop a bombshell that the midfielder wants to leave United in the summer. (h/t Sky Sports)

And on top of that, Victor Lindelof’s injury situation is still not perfect. In light of that, Rice would definitely plug in a few holes if he joins Old Trafford. On top of it, he’s still just 22 and has his best footballing years ahead of him.
