Manchester United complete signing of Everton defender George | OneFootball

Manchester United have completed the signing of Everton defender Gabby George ahead of the transfer deadline.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Red Devils this evening.

George returns to Manchester United after spending her youth in the club’s Centre of Excellence. The player has enjoyed a nine-year spell as a senior player at Everton. The defender went on to make 101 appearances for The Blue Girls in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

On the international stage, George has found herself on the fringes of the England squad in recent times. Her move back to Manchester United could help boost her hopes of international honours with the Lionesses. George has just two senior caps to her name to date.

After re-joining Manchester United, George said “It’s been a surreal day. As a massive Manchester United fan, I’m buzzing to be here. It’s the club I’ve supported since I was born, and I’m delighted to come back. This club means a lot to me and my family, and it’s where we want to be.”

George is Manchester United’s second signing of Transfer Deadline Day. The club also signed Spanish international midfielder Irene Guerrero this morning.
