In a recent report, The Daily Mail mentioned that Manchester United are preparing to launch a move for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. It is understood that the Red Devils are open to making a  a £55m offer to land the English centre-back this summer.

Branthwaite has enjoyed an impressive campaign at the Merseyside club after performing at a high level for them on the defensive third of the pitch. The English defensive ace has participated in 40 matches for Everton this season, scoring three goals in various competitions.

The 21-year-old has been a decent performer when defending inside his half as he is averaging 1.9 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 4.4 clearances per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the back based on his pass completion rate of 80.2% in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Goodison Park will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Man United would have to make a convincing offer if they want to acquire the services of the Everton centre-half later this year.

Will Branthwaite Be A Good Signing For Manchester United?

Branthwaite is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and can use his robust 1.95m frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team.

The English defender can even play his way out from the back. Hence, he would be a terrific signing for the Red Devils if they can manage to bring him on board at the end of this campaign.

Branthwaite has proven his worth in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Old Trafford. At 21, he has the potential to become a generational talent, so Man United would be wise to go all out to lure him to the Theatre of Dreams in the upcoming transfer window.

Branthwaite is already good enough to nail down a regular starting place at the Mancunian club next season. Thus, it makes sense for the Red Devils to move in for him later this year.
