Manchester United and Leeds legend Gordon McQueen has sadly passed away at the age of 70 after a battle with dementia.

The Scottish centre-back started his career with St. Mirren before moving to Leeds in 1972, where he quickly became an integral part of Don Revie’s famous side, winning the league title in the 1973-74 season.

In 1978, he and fellow Scotsman Joe Jordan crossed the Pennines and joined Leeds’ bitter rivals Manchester United, where he won the FA Cup in 1982/83 and became a major fans’ favourite amongst the Old Trafford faithful.

On the international stage, McQueen earned 30 caps for Scotland, scoring five times.

Following retirement, McQueen was a much-loved member of Sky Sports’ broadcasting team, most notably as a panelist on Gillette Soccer Saturday.

Everyone at OneFootball passes on their condolences and best wishes to the family and friends of Gordon.
