Manchester United and Manchester City are both reportedly interested in Inter Milan centre-back Milan Škriniar.

According to Italian outlet Il Corriere dello Sport, both clubs have already had £60m bids rejected for the 23-year-old.

A Slovakian international, Škriniar wowed onlookers in Italy this season as his performances helped Inter secure their return to the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola is said to view the former Sampdoria man as a potential long-term successor to Vincent Kompany, while José Mourinho will be in the market for at least one new central defender in the transfer window.

Both Manchester giants might end up being disappointed, however. Inter are said to be adamant Škriniar is not for sale at any price, while the player himself is reportedly happy to stay in Milan for at least one more year.

Elsewhere, reports of a club record £96m bid from United for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinković-Savić over the weekend appear to have been wide of the mark.

The Red Devils have been strongly linked with a swoop for the Serbian, but his current club say they are yet to receive any offers.

“We have received no official proposals for now,” Lazio sporting director Igli Tare told Sky Sports Italy.

“We will be ready in case anything happens. Milinković-Savić is a top player that deserves to play at the highest levels but at the moment we have received no offers for him.”
