Manchester United are reportedly posing ‘a great threat’ to Real Madrid’s interest in Eduardo Camavinga.

The youngster is regarded as one of the hottest properties in French football, becoming the youngest player to make his debut for Rennes aged just 16 years and four months back in 2019.

Despite his tender years, he has since gone on to become an integral player for the Ligue 1 club, featuring in 25 of Rennes’ 28 league games last season in a curtailed campaign which saw the Britanny based club secure Champions League football.

The dynamic, defensive midfielder has reportedly attracted the attentions of Real Madrid, with compatriot Zinedine Zidane known to be an admirer of the 17-year-old, though the ongoing pandemic prevented the La Liga champions from making any signings this summer – Los Blancos having already commenced work on an expensive redevelopment of their legendary Bernabeu stadium.

Now, according to Spanish publication, AS [via Sport Witness], Real Madrid could find themselves up against Manchester United in the pursuit of Camavinga, where the teenager is touted as a potential replacement for Les Blues teammate, Paul Pogba.

Pogba once again fuelled speculation about his future last week by admitting it would be a ‘dream’ to play for Real Madrid, although he did add that he was happy at Old Trafford.

However, with Zidane having also long admired Pogba, AS say that Man Utd have ‘put in place the mechanism’ to sign Camavinga as a replacement should the Spanish giants come calling for their midfielder.

Despite his immense talent and potential, Camavinga could be available for a relatively attainable price given that his deal with Rennes runs out in 2022, the youngster having rejected the chance to extend his deal with the early Ligue 1 leaders.

The report says that Manchester United are now posing ‘a great threat’ in the race to sign the teenager, with the player’s agent having already warned Real Madrid that his client may no longer be available having opted against a move this summer.
