Manchester United are set to host neighbours Manchester City in the first-ever Barclays Women’s Super League derby to be staged at Old Trafford.
Ticket sales have been going well in recent weeks and Manchester United have now confirmed that more than 45,000 tickets have been sold. The Red Devils are set to record their highest-ever attendance for a women’s team game, their current best is 30,196 which was recorded for last season’s fixture against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
The current attendance record for a Manchester derby stands at 44,259 which was recorded at the Etihad Stadium for Manchester City’s home derby against Manchester United in 2022/2023.
Speaking following the latest ticket update, Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner said “Our players are used to big occasions, and they thrive in those environments. The bigger we make these moments, the more the players grow.
“The women’s game has continued to develop, and fans are attending games to witness competitive performances from their favourite players. The game is growing with more reasons than ever to come and watch women’s football and we can’t wait to play in front of our biggest home crowd.”
