Manchester City ended their campaign proving that they are simply invincible when it comes to the Premier League, as the Sky Blues brought home the Premier League crown. But the same cannot be said about the transfer window as they weren’t as active as other clubs despite bringing in Jack Grealish for a record fee of £100m.

The marquee signing was for the nought as he did not look to justify his hefty price tag in the Mancunian outfit.

He has managed to average 1.3 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.5 dribbles, making 87.6% of his attempted passes, which compared to his tally back at Villa Park is below average.

The left-winger was expected to improve Guardiola’s ranks in the Premier League but only managed to score 4 goals and create 4 assists over 39 appearances. The most expensive player in the Premier League also failed to become a crucial man in Guardiola’s starting XI.

The rest of the signings included four more arrivals but were only deemed as future prospects, which included the signature of Kayky (£9m), Dario Sarmiento (£4.5m) and Kluiverth Aguilar (£2.25m); the latter two were immediately loaned out. Scott Carson was bought for free from Derby county to provide more depth to the squad.

Pep Guardiola needed an orthodox number 9 in the frontline after Sergio Aguero’s exit and Erling Haaland could fill in the position next season, as they look to defend the domestic title with one eye on the Champions League Trophy.
