Manchester City’s Women’s players took centre stage at the inaugural World’s Seven Football, held in Estoril, Lisbon, a few weeks ago
Elite teams from across the globe came together for a weekend of high-intensity, small-sided football games.
City reached the semi-finals and then contested a third-place play-off in Estoril, losing out to Paris Saint-Germain to end as the fourth placed team overall. During the tournament, they also played Rosengard, Ajax, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
City’s squad embraced the opportunity to innovate their analysis approach by using CITYPLAY, an advanced performance tool powered by Playermaker, that allows players from all levels to track their performance anytime, anywhere.
Using CITYPLAY, players and staff were provided the opportunity to break down individual and team performances, gaining key insights into their technical and physical data.
Mounted discreetly on players’ boots, the lightweight sensor records motion-based data, providing scores for key football skills and allowing players to further understand their technical skills levels, such as first touch and dribbling, and their physical skills levels, such as speed and agility.
As part of Manchester City’s wider commitment to innovation, CITYPLAY featuring at the World’s Sevens is another example of how technology is helping to shape the future of football - giving every player the tools they need to succeed in the modern game.
