Crystal Palace have won two of their last six visits to the Etihad, losing only two, with the last five encounters between the duo producing 21 goals, a goal every 21 minutes on average.

Manchester City vs Crystal Palace Preview

Manchester City kick off outside the Champions League positions, thereby making victory in Saturday's early kick off of paramount importance. Last Sunday, the Sky Blues played out a bore goalless draw at Old Trafford, dubbed the worst Manchester derby ever, neither side appearing likely to make the breakthrough. So, having won only three of eight Premier League matches since the start of February, Pep Guardiola's team have slipped down to sixth, below both Chelsea and Newcastle.

The Citizens' remaining seven fixtures are generally pretty favourable, but they simply need wins to secure a 15th successive season of Champions League football. Home games against Palace have proved tricky in the past, but will Man City collect three precious points come Saturday lunchtime?

Well, Crystal Palace arrive in Manchester in red-hot form, having collected four points more than their hosts across the last ten games. A week ago, the Eagles defeated fierce rivals Brighton 2-1 at Selhurst, thanks to goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and then Daniel Muñoz. Despite having both Eddie Nketiah and then Marc Guéhi sent off late on, the Eagles held on and became the first team in Premier League history to win a home match down to nine-men.

Overall, Oliver Glasner's side have won seven of their last ten Premier League fixtures, still only 11th, five points below Fulham in the final potential European position. Nevertheless, Palace do have the FA Cup to focus on, and this could be a dress rehearsal for May's final, considering the Eagles will face Aston Villa at Wembley, with Man City meetings Nottingham Forest the following day. Palace are unbeaten in eight away games, winning six of them, so can they extend that streak at the Etihad?

Manchester City Team News

Nathan Aké, Manuel Akanji, John Stones, Rodri and Erling Braut Håland remain sidelined, but Oscar Bobb is back, coming off the bench ten days ago, his first appearance since the Community Shield following a broken leg.

In terms of who might start, Nico O'Reilly is set to do so for the third game running, once again deployed at left-back, with Abdukodir Khusanov remaining on the bench. Nico González, Jack Grealish, Jérémy Doku and Savinho were also substitutes at Old Trafford, so will any of that quartet return this time?

Manchester City predicted lineup vs Crystal Palace: (4-3-3): Ederson; Nunes, Rúben Dias, Gvardiol, O'Reilly; Kovačić, Gündoğan, Foden, De Bruyne Doku; Marmoush.

Manchester City Player to Watch vs Crystal Palace

Omar Marmoush will continue to lead the line in Håland's absence, so can the Egyptian add to his six goals for Man City, five of which have come at the Etihad?

Crystal Palace Team News

Oliver Glasner's squad is depleted. Marc Guéhi and Eddie Nketiah are both suspended, while Maxence Lacroix is sidelined due to a concussion sustained last Saturday. With Chadi Riad also out and Chris Richards a doubt, a very makeshift back three featuring Nathaniel Clyne, Jefferson Lerma and Ben Chilwell could be deployed.

Aside from defence, Glasner has plenty of options at his disposal. Will Hughes is likely to displace Daichi Kamada in midfield, but the attack will remain unchanged, remaining very dangerous.

Crystal Palace predicted lineup vs Manchester City: (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Clyne, Lerma, Mitchell; Muñoz, Wharton, Hughes, Chilwell; Sarr, Eze, Mateta.

Crystal Palace Player to Watch vs Manchester City

Jean-Philippe Mateta scored his 16th of the season last Saturday, with the Frenchman on target home and away against Man City last season, so can he repeat that trick?

Manchester City vs Crystal Palace Prediction

Given that Palace are depleted, we are backing Man City for a narrow victory at the Etihad in this one, although a positive result for the Eagles would not shock us: Manchester City 2-1 Crystal Palace.
