WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Cityzens this morning.
Annets joins Manchester City after starting her senior playing career with former Barclays Women’s Championship club Reading. The 18-year-old is a product of The Royals’ highly-regarded Regional Talent Centre (RTC). The youngster has been in and around the Reading senior squad for the last couple of seasons. Annets made her first team debut last season and went on to make four appearances for the The Royals in all competitions.
On the international stage, Annets has represented England at Under-19 level and the player will now have her eyes set upon gaining further honours with The Young Lionesses.
After joining Manchester City, Annets said “[It feels] amazing. I mean in a club like this, to hear that they’re interested in you is just a feeling that can’t be matched. With the aspirations I’ve got, coming to a club like this, it’s just incredible.
“I want to be getting to the elite level and will push myself as high as I can towards the best players at this club. I want to be fitter, stronger, faster, making better saves against faster-paced shots, things like that, and just developing a mindset of someone who is going for a WSL title. To be part of that team would be really good.
“If I could see and be part of a team winning the WSL this season, that would be amazing.”
Annets becomes Manchester City’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
