Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign talented West Bromwich Albion youngster Morgan Rogers.

The 16-year-old passed a medical at the club on Tuesday, per a Telegraph report, but will have to wait for the deal to be made official.

As Rogers is just 16, City must wait 17 days until he turns 17 to sign Rogers to a professional contract.

The Premier League champions will pay a fee of £4m for Rogers, one of the highest ever paid for a 16-year-old in the Premier League.

According to the Telegraph report, such was City’s determination to sign him that the deal was personally overseen by director of football Txiki Begiristain.

Although he would not normally involve himself in such a deal, the acquisition of Rogers was viewed by the club as a priority.

It is the second time in recent days West Brom have lost one of the brightest young talents in their academy.

Louie Barry, who is also 16, was poached by Barcelona who have signed the young Englishman to a professional deal.
