A double loan exit from Manchester City’s Academy ranks has been signed off by Etihad Stadium officials on transfer deadline day, reports have revealed.

Both Lakyle Samuel and Mahamadou Susoho have been regarded as two bright prospects within City’s youth system over the past few seasons, earning first-team exposure under Pep Guardiola while continuing their development in the Elite Development Squad.

With competition for places intensifying at the Etihad Stadium, particularly in light of further business and investment this summer, both players are now set for crucial senior experiences elsewhere in the Football League and Scottish Premiership respectively.

Samuel, a versatile defender capable of operating both centrally and at right-back, has steadily risen through City’s Academy ranks since joining the club aged eight. His development was rewarded with inclusion in City’s first-team pre-season tour of the United States in 2023, even making his senior debut in a friendly against Chelsea.

Susoho, meanwhile, has been a prominent midfield figure in the Academy setup since joining in 2017. A defensive midfielder with a strong passing range and tenacity off the ball, he has featured at every youth level, while a senior debut came in the UEFA Champions League. A 2024/25 loan at Peterborough United would follow, with further experience now scheduled.

According to the information of the Manchester Evening News, Lakyle Samuel is expected to join League Two side Bromley, while midfielder Mahamadou Susoho appears to be joining Scottish Premiership outfit Livingstone, with both moves agreed as loan deals.

The exits of Samuel and Susoho form part of City’s wider Academy strategy, which has seen a string of young players either secure senior loan moves or permanent transfers with buy-back clauses.

As seen recently with Luca Fletcher’s switch to Ipswich Town and Romario Collins’ arrival from Sheffield Wednesday, the club continues to balance its focus between incoming youth talent and ensuring existing prospects secure regular first-team football.

For Samuel, the switch to Bromley represents an opportunity to gain physical experience in one of England’s toughest divisions, where defensive resilience and adaptability will be tested weekly. Susoho’s move to Scotland, meanwhile, places him in a competitive top-flight environment.

Looking ahead, both players will be closely monitored by City’s technical staff, who have consistently used loan experiences to accelerate the development of their most promising Academy graduates.
