According to Foot Mercato, Manchester City wants to reach an agreement with West Ham for midfielder Lucas Paquetá (26) without meeting the release clause which is thought to be worth €85 million.

The two clubs had previously agreed to a deal for the player last summer, with City at time willing to meet the clause for the former Olympique Lyonnais midfielder. However, the deal broke down at the last minute after the FA revealed that they had begun an investigation into the player for alleged betting breaches.

Lucas Paquetá remains vital for West Ham despite ongoing investigation

All that remains is a deal to be forged with West Ham who will be reluctant to lose a player that has become vital for the side since his move from Ligue 1 for less than his release clause.
