All season long we have seen Manchester City battle injuries. The injury situation at the club has appeared to be a revolving door at times. Just when it looked like Pep Guardiola would have his full squad available a new injury issue would arise. That has been City’s lot so far this season. But now it does appear that Pep Guardiola’s side is getting players back from injury at the ideal time. That is welcome news for Manchester City in a season that has been shaped by injury for the world champions.
Jeremy Doku, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake and Ederson have all resumed training in recent days. With Oscar Bobb on the comeback trail as well that means only Rodri is currently unavailable through injury for Manchester City. It does appear that relief is in sight to City’s injury situation. With a gruelling run of fixtures on the horizon for Pep Guardiola’s side they may be getting their players back at the ideal time in their season. Obviously, players would have to stay fit but the fact that they are slowly on the comeback trail is good news for Manchester City.
Speaking before his team’s FA Cup tie against Leyton Orient Pep Guardiola was asked if Ruben Dias, Jeremy Doku or Nathan Ake could feature in the match. Guardiola was optimistic that all three could: “Maybe some of them, we will see.”
It remains to be seen if Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake and Jeremy Doku do play a part in the fourth-round FA Cup tie. You’d expect Ake and Dias to start against Real Madrid if they are fully fit. But the fact that all three players are in contention to feature in the match against Leyton Orient is welcome news.
