Manchester City defender Ruby Mace has joined Leicester City on loan for the remainder of the season.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Leicester City this afternoon.

The 19-year-old has been loaned to the Barclays Women’s Super League’s bottom club in a bid to get a regular run of games following injury. Mace was sidelined for a large period of the first half of the season.

The defender joined Manchester City in summer 2021 but has had to bide her time for playing opportunities at The Academy Stadium. Mace was named amongst the substitutes for 19 of her side’s 22 games in the Barclays Women’s Super League last season. Manchester City view Mace as one for the future and she will be hoping that her loan spell at Leicester City boosts her chances of playing regularly for her parent club.

After completing her loan move to Leicester City, Mace said “I’m really happy and it feels good to be here. I want to showcase my ability and help the team as much as possible. I can see how hard the girls are working and I want to be in that kind of environment where you are constantly pushing.”

It is thought that Mace will be permitted to represent Leicester City in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup this weekend.
