Manchester United U23s secured a 5-1 win over Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday.
The match was played to honour former coach Bert Whalley, who tragically lost his life in the Munich Air Disaster.
Organised by the Professional Footballers' Association, the match was preceded by the unveiling of a plaque for Whalley at Stalybridge's ground, Bower Fold, where he also plied his trade.
Zidane Iqbal scored the only goal of the opening half with a superb finish after 17 minutes.
A double from Dillon Hoogewerf put United in the driver's seat before Celtic pulled one back through Scot Bakkor.
But goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Noam Emeran put the result beyond doubt.
