Premier League side Man Utd are getting ‘serious’ in their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani, according to reports.

The Red Devils are desperate to sign a new centre-forward this summer as they look to finally land a permanent replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club at the end of November after a controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

Man Utd did bring in a temporary replacement in the form of Wout Weghorst but the Red Devils will now spend big on a new striker.

Numerous names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford with Tottenham striker Harry Kane originally their top summer target.

However, the Man Utd recruitment team decided to end their immediate interest in Kane after talks with Spurs made it clear that Daniel Levy was unwilling to sell to a Premier League rival this summer.

Erik ten Hag wanted the Red Devils to force the issue with Tottenham but they are now pursuing other targets with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos among the names linked.

Kolo Muani is another player on their list and French newspaper L’Equipe claims that the ‘hour of decision is approaching’ over the France international’s future.

He is getting ‘more and more expensive’ and the ‘next few days’ are said to be key with Man Utd still in the race to sign the 24-year-old.

Man Utd and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have ‘become serious’ about signing Kolo Muani and the Red Devils ‘have the means’ the pull off the signing.

If any club want to enter negotiations they have to entertain Frankfurt ‘fixing the bar at €100m’ for the striker with L’Equipe warning that the Man Utd takeover ‘could slow everything down when the time to close comes’.

Franfurt could settle on a deal of ‘€60-70m up front with bonuses potentially reaching €30-40m’ while Kolo Muani would be up for a move as he sees himself playing for an elite club ‘in the short term’.

Kolo Muani’s compatriot and former Man Utd striker Louis Saha claims the “very smart” striker “won’t have any issues” adapting to the Premier League.

Saha told Betway: “Randal Kolo Muani has different type of qualities to Harry Kane and he’s still young. But Muani has a hunger to always score goals, keeps himself busy on the pitch and can be very versatile. It’s a player who the Manchester United players will find easy to play with because he’s very smart in the way he plays.

“Muani won’t have any issues with the fitness or physicality needed in the Premier League, he can run all day and press high-up like we’ve seen with Wout Weghorst. He’s shown it for France with Kylian Mbappe, they connected instantly.”
