Manchester United are interested in signing AC Milan wonderkid Francesco Camarda, but a deal is unlikely to materialise, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (page 12).
The 16-year-old striker made his first-team debut for the Rossoneri earlier this season. He is considered one of the best young graduates in their academy.
United and Manchester City have offered a contract to the teenager, but the duo are not in a position to sign him this summer.
Premier League clubs are not permitted to recruit foreign players under the age of 18 due to Brexit rules.
The Rossoneri are reportedly close to reaching a rough agreement with the youngster, and he could soon sign a three-year pro deal.
The San Siro outfit want Camarda to partly train with the first team while playing for their Under 23 team who will play in Serie C next term.
United have been known for pursuing young talents from foreign leagues. Alejandro Garnacho joined the club as a 16-year-old and has now become a mainstay in the starting XI.
They no longer have the same luxury due to Brexit rules. Clubs such as Chelsea and Man City have found a different solution by signing South American talents on pre-contracts.
The Red Devils should consider the same route. When it comes to European football, it is unlikely that a club like Milan will accept a similar proposal for the transfer of Camarda.
Camarda has looked promising for the academy teams this season with 13 goals and four assists from 42 outings in all competitions. He should only get better with age and experience.
The youngster is already valued at €10 million by Transfermarkt. His price could rise further as he becomes a regular. United will be disappointed to miss out on his services.
